EVERYONE DEALS WITH SHIT!
In a picture-perfect world, filled with technical enhancements and photo filters; everything and everybody is PERFECT, well it seems that way.
The perfect selfie, the perfect body, the perfect family and the perfect life.
Well, guess what?
Everyone has shit!
It may be different shit for several people, but it’s shit none-the-less. Honestly, Just because “your” social media is on point, or your accomplishments are highlighted with stage time and shiny awards, this doesn’t mean that you are exempt from experiencing difficult periods of life.
You can never understand the full journey of another person or what someone else is facing in life. Whether it’s the loss of a child or a close family member, the journey of a terminal illness, financial burdens or mental health issues; public pictures produce false perception, we all have an ideal self.
While traveling, I sat in the airport and listened to another passenger speak about her family. She seemed happy and exuded with great pride telling me about her sons and grandchildren. “You know life isn’t always perfect; I can’t stand my son’s other wife,” she truthfully stated.
“Well everyone has their cross to carry,” I followed up with; I realized how valid she was, life isn’t continuously perfect, and everyone responds to the challenging impacts in life in different ways.
As a Millennial Mom and in society today, parents focus so much emphasis on obtaining and living the best life. Many parents focus on their child being the winner, and that certainly makes everyday parenting challenging.
Everyone has shit they are dealing with. Despite the most picture-perfect family, they have shit too.
Take a step back and ask yourself:
Do I judge others?
- Do I measure people’s shortcomings?
- Do I compare myself and my family to what I see on social media?
- Do I set my own goals or do I compare with others?
Whether it’s vital relationships, good health, a favorable career, or a great family. The sooner you realize that no one is perfect and everyone has shit, the sooner you will be happy and free of comparison envy.
