Erykah Badu and Motherhood
By: Jessica “JT” Taylor
Millennial Mom Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief had the opportunity for a quick 1-on-1 with Erykah Badu. Erykah discusses her views on motherhood.
MM: Erykah thanks for opening a small window of your time to sit down with Millennial Mom Magazine. Quickly, a little insight on who we are. We provide readers with the New Age Mom Experience, uniting with all mothers; those especially raising millennial children and moms who are of the millennial generation. Understanding that what advice
you would give moms who are raising children in this new era?
Erykah: Well, You know, we have to trust our kids’ instincts and their abilities to make decisions. They are improvements to our design!
I just trust when the time comes that my children will know exactly what to do to help evolve the vibrations of the planet; and also to help eliminate those things that no longer develop the planet.
MM: Is that natural or taught?
Erykah: My children are already doing it naturally, just by being who they are. They don’t have to do anything special.
MM: Do you find yourself raising your children comparable to the way your mom raised you or do you consider alternating your parenting style based on the cultivating change of society?
Erykah: Yeah! Absolutely! You know, with the same moral basics, which includes compassion, honesty, fearlessness and strong will.
MM: So you believe morals are the basics, but important?
Erykah: I believe in teaching them to exercise their will power, encouraging them to test themselves as much as possible. I teach them to BE more and greater.
MM: I agree! Trust is important and the teaching of morals are overlooked and excluded.
Erykah: Yes, morals are the base. Just trusting their instincts and their intuition is essential.
MM: As we conclude, any other words of wisdom that you would like to share with our readers?
Erykah: I just say trust everything that you have taught them because they will grasp it, and it will reflect who you are, as mother.
MM: Thank you, Erykah. I appreciate the valuable advice with such little time; several mothers look up to you. I know they will appreciate your message of parenting and wisdom.
Erykah: Thank you.
